  • I made it!!!
Miles biked: 280
Average speed: (I’m going to be generous to myself and say) 15 mph
Top speed: 30 mph
Orders of hashbrowns consumed: 10 (not kidding)
States traversed: Only 3. Not very impressive. Running out of stats here.
Towns that have the audacity to be in the middle of a goddamn 40 mile mountain range: Frederick.

  • One more pic of Bill’s Place, since God only knows when I’ll get Internet again today. I am in Berkeley Springs, WV, currently, where I watched the debates last night in a ridiculously quaint country inn. Next stop, Frederick!

  • More interestingly, this is “Bill’s Place,” in Little Orleans MD. It was touch-and-go at first, tbh, but eventually everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming and politely incredulous about why anyone ostensibly sane would want to bike there from Pittsburgh. “This is my entertainment for the day,” said one awesome dude when his dad told him to stop asking me so many questions.

  • Oh, look. It’s hashbrowns with extra hashbrowns and a black coffee again. Has no one even heard of tofu cutlets with a vegan hollandaise sauce, eggless French toast, and a soy cappuccino? You’d think we were living in the dark ages. Christ.

  • Hi Jack, how is your bike trip going? -xoxo, Andy
    yacomink

Great, thank you, Andy! I am in Cumberland, Maryland, which is weird and maybe a little bit scary, but I am enjoying a delicious and hard-earned Allegheny Pale Ale, which is hitting the motherfucking spot, desultory Maryland towns be damned! Tomorrow: Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, which will almost certainly mean more biking.
